Role Mediation and Arbitration

The goal of the Canadian Foundation for Innovation is to fund the best science at the most appropriate level. As Chair of the Foundation's 2009 large grants panel - responsible for distributing more than $10 million - Dr. Mark Poznansky needed to promote harmony among committee members who came from various disciplines and had different goals and interests. What's more, he had to corral the expertise of the members and ensure they dispensed the $300 million that was available in grants to those individuals or organizations that were most deserving.

Under the leadership of Dr. Mark Poznansky, harmony was maintained among committee members and they worked together to effectively apportion the monies available in an objective fashion.
